Angels, Angels, Angels

Angels, Angels, Angels

Friday, January 15, 2010

There will be a much greater number of Angels shown to the saints this year than ever before. The Lord wants you to use your Angels to accomplish some things He is telling you to do this year. He wants you to understand all about Angels so that you have the faith to do what He is instructing you to do. You do have the authority to use angels. You do have the command of God to speak when He says speak and create His perfect will right here on earth. Let’s take a look at just what the Bible teaches about Angels. If the Lord is leading you to teach this lesson in church, please feel free.

Angels minister for

(Hebrews 1:14) Are they not all ministering spirits, sent forth to minister for them who shall be heirs of salvation?

The Word “Angels” itself

The word angel comes from the Greek word “angelos”, which means messenger. The Bible says that God appointed many angels to those who love God and call on Him. (Psalms 91:11) For he shall give his angels charge over thee, to keep thee in all thy ways.

Types of Angels

The Bible refers to different types of angels, with varying duties. Some angels are guides, some protectors, and others are messengers of the Lord. The appearance and purposes of angels vary throughout history and all over the world. Artists have drawn us their visions and ideas of angels as winged creatures, usually beautiful figures that seen as glowing, shining, or floating in human form. But finally the Bible has given us understanding about them and what they look like lest we be deceived by another form.

Guardian Angels

Some people trust their lives into the hands of guardian angels, or believe when they die they will be led to Heaven by the angel of death. Many stories show a stranger next to the deathbed at the time a person passes. This could be scriptural. The Word says that He will never leave you nor forsake you.

Warrior Angels

Many people, soldiers included, claim to have seen “Warrior angels leading them into battle. They feel comforted and stronger knowing they have celestial help. He has given His angels charge over… (Ps 91:11)

Angels can give imagination or hope or security…

Angels have made us curious, inspired our imagination and brought us hope causing us to feel secure. Sometimes there very existence gives you a knowing that in time of need they will be there to help us. We hear about people who say they have seen an angel, or have seen a glowing light. Many people claim that angels have appeared human form out of nowhere just at the right time to save the day and then disappear without a trace.

Guardian Angels

Angels watch over us, it isn’t clearly explained in the Word, but many people think they are with us from birth to death. They say we are assigned an angel to guide and protect us throughout our lives.

Some believe that there is a hierarchical (ruling body of angels) order of angels. The first group is the Seraphim, Cherubim, and Thrones.

Seraphim

The word Seraphim (a plural word) (the singular word is Seraph) is taken from the powerful imagery often associated with the Presence of God. See (Isaiah 6:2) Above it stood the seraphims: each one had six wings with twain he covered his face, and with twain he covered his feet, and with twain he did fly.

Cherubim are represented as guardians with many wings. Thrones have been depicted as wearing stoles and kneeling before God. See (Genesis 3:24) So he drove out the man; and he placed at the east of the garden of Eden Cherubims, and a flaming sword which turned every way, to keep the way of the tree of life.

Angels spoken of in prophecy

(Ezekiel 1:4) And I looked, and, behold, a whirlwind came out of the north, a great cloud, and a fire enfolding itself, and a brightness was about it, and out of the midst thereof as the color of amber, out of the midst of the fire.

(Ezekiel 1:5) Also out of the midst thereof came the likeness of four living creatures. And this was their appearance; they had the likeness of a man.

(Ezekiel 1:6) And every one had four faces, and every one had four wings.

(Ezekiel 1:7) And their feet were straight feet; and the sole of their feet was like the sole of a calf's foot: and they sparkled like the color of burnished brass.

(Ezekiel 1:8) And they had the hands of a man under their wings on their four sides; and they four had their faces and their wings.

(Ezekiel 1:9) Their wings were joined one to another; they turned not when they went; they went every one straight forward.

(Ezekiel 1:10) As for the likeness of their faces, they four had the face of a man, and the face of a lion, on the right side: and they four had the face of an ox on the left side; they four also had the face of an eagle.

(Ezekiel 1:11) Thus were their faces: and their wings were stretched upward; two wings of every one were joined one to another, and two covered their bodies.

(Ezekiel 1:12) And they went every one straight forward: whither the spirit was to go, they went; and they turned not when they went.

(Ezekiel 1:13) As for the likeness of the living creatures, their appearance was like burning coals of fire, and like the appearance of lamps: it went up and down among the living creatures; and the fire was bright, and out of the fire went forth lightning.

(Ezekiel 1:14) And the living creatures ran and returned as the appearance of a flash of lightning.

Description of Angels

(Ezekiel 1:26) And above the firmament that was over their heads was the likeness of a throne, as the appearance of a sapphire stone: and upon the likeness of the throne was the likeness as the appearance of a man above upon it.

(Ezekiel 1:27) And I saw as the color of amber, as the appearance of fire round about within it, from the appearance of his loins even upward, and from the appearance of his loins even downward, I saw as it were the appearance of fire, and it had brightness round about.

(Ezekiel 1:28) As the appearance of the bow that is in the cloud in the day of rain, so was the appearance of the brightness round about. This was the appearance of the likeness of the glory of the LORD. And when I saw it, I fell upon my face, and I heard a voice of one that spoke.1:26-28,

(Hebrews 9:5) And over it the cherubim of glory shadowing the mercy seat; of which we cannot now speak particularly.

(1 Samuel 4:4) So the people sent to Shiloh, that they might bring from thence the ark of the covenant of the LORD of hosts, which dwelleth between the cherubims: and the two sons of Eli, Hophni and Phinehas, were there with the ark of the covenant of God.

(Psalms 80:1) To the chief Musician upon Shoshannim-eduth, A Psalm of Asaph. Give ear, O Shepherd of Israel , thou that leadest Joseph like a flock; thou that dwellest between the cherubims, shine forth.

(Revelation 4:6) And before the throne there was a sea of glass like unto crystal: and in the midst of the throne, and round about the throne, were four beasts full of eyes before and behind.

Archangels are the third group of angels that includes the principalities, protectors of nations, and the angles who protect humans.

The word Archangel is found in (1 Thessalonians 4:16) For the Lord himself shall descend from heaven with a shout, with the voice of the archangel, and with the trump of God: and the dead in Christ shall rise first:

Names of Specific Angels

Gabriel is the angel of the enunciation, in (Daniel 8:15) And it came to pass, when I, even I Daniel, had seen the vision, and sought for the meaning, then, behold, there stood before me as the appearance of a man.

(Daniel 8:16) And I heard a man's voice between the banks of Ulai, which called, and said, Gabriel, make this man to understand the vision.

(Daniel 8:17) So he came near where I stood: and when he came, I was afraid, and fell upon my face: but he said unto me, Understand, O son of man: for at the time of the end shall be the vision.

(Daniel 8:18) Now as he was speaking with me, I was in a deep sleep on my face toward the ground: but he touched me, and set me upright.

(Daniel 8:19) And he said, Behold, I will make thee know what shall be in the last end of the indignation: for at the time appointed the end shall be.

(Daniel 8:20) The ram which thou sawest having two horns are the kings of Media and Persia .

(Daniel 8:21) And the rough goat is the king of Greece : and the great horn that is between his eyes is the first king.

(Daniel 8:22) Now that being broken, whereas four stood up for it, four kingdoms shall stand up out of the nation, but not in his power.

(Daniel 8:23) And in the latter time of their kingdom, when the transgressors are come to the full, a king of fierce countenance, and understanding dark sentences, shall stand up.

(Daniel 8:24) And his power shall be mighty, but not by his own power: and he shall destroy wonderfully, and shall prosper, and practice, and shall destroy the mighty and the holy people.

(Daniel 8:25) And through his policy also he shall cause craft to prosper in his hand; and he shall magnify himself in his heart, and by peace shall destroy many: he shall also stand up against the Prince of princes; but he shall be broken without hand.

(Daniel 8:26) And the vision of the evening and the morning which was told is true: wherefore shut thou up the vision; for it shall be for many days.

And again in (Daniel 9:21) Yea, while I was speaking in prayer, even the man Gabriel, whom I had seen in the vision at the beginning, being caused to fly swiftly, touched me about the time of the evening oblation.

(Daniel 9:22) And he informed me, and talked with me, and said, O Daniel, I am now come forth to give thee skill and understanding.

(Daniel 9:23) At the beginning of thy supplications the commandment came forth, and I am come to show thee; for thou art greatly beloved: therefore understand the matter, and consider the vision.

(Daniel 9:24) Seventy weeks are determined upon thy people and upon thy holy city, to finish the transgression, and to make an end of sins, and to make reconciliation for iniquity, and to bring in everlasting righteousness, and to seal up the vision and prophecy, and to anoint the most Holy.

(Daniel 9:25) Know therefore and understand, that from the going forth of the commandment to restore and to build Jerusalem unto the Messiah the Prince shall be seven weeks, and threescore and two weeks: the street shall be built again, and the wall, even in troublous times.

(Daniel 9:26) And after threescore and two weeks shall Messiah be cut off, but not for himself: and the people of the prince that shall come shall destroy the city and the sanctuary; and the end thereof shall be with a flood, and unto the end of the war desolations are determined.

(Daniel 9:27) And he shall confirm the covenant with many for one week: and in the midst of the week he shall cause the sacrifice and the oblation to cease, and for the overspreading of abominations he shall make it desolate, even until the consummation, and that determined shall be poured upon the desolate.

Gabriel also appears in (Luke 1:19) And the angel answering said unto him, I am Gabriel, that stand in the presence of God; and am sent to speak unto thee, and to show thee these glad tidings.

Messenger Angels come communicating to people about their personal problems or life decisions. Some believe that Gabriel brings information to us. This isn’t made totally clear in the Word.

Uriel is said to be the Angel of death, who was also thought to be the angel of transformation. He is believed to be standing by people on the verge of death.

Michael the Archangel appears as a warrior angel in 1 Thessalonians 4:16 and Jude 9. He is the most well known angel. Michael is said to be the defender angel who does battle Daniel 10:13, 21, and 12:1. References are also found in Romans 8:38, Ephesians 1:21, and Colossians 1:16. The guardian angels are all aspects and forms of Michael. There are personal guardian angels, as well as those that help armies and protect nations. It has been said that earth has a specific angel. (Michael?)

Saved By An Angel:

I heard a story about a man was hiking in the Sierra Nevada Mountains with his two daughters. One was about three years old. The other daughter was just a baby, under one year of age, and was in a back-pack baby carrier. They were many miles away from the nearest person and were walking around a reservoir filled with water. The three year old said she wanted to go play in the water. The Daddy explained to her that the sides of the reservoir were very steep and she couldn't wade in because those sides were too steep. The water also got deep very quickly and he explained that she didn’t know how to swim. The little girl understood and they walked on around the reservoirs edge. In less than a minute, the girl tripped and rolled down the steep bank 5 to 10 feet and into the water. She struggled, and with each panicked move swept farther out in the water. My friend (Daddy) raced down. He stood in the water and reached as far as he could, but the little girl was just inches out of his reach. She was quickly moving away from shore. My friend (Daddy) stepped farther into the water this time, and with water up to his waist, his feet slipped in the steep reservoir bottom. His little girl slipped just inches out of his reach. He took another step into the water, the steep decline this time caused the water to be up to his shoulders. Just as he grasped her hand, his feet slipped, however, his little girl clung to him. His head and his one year olds head went under the water. He kicked with all his might, but couldn't get his head above the water. He felt they all three would drown and he desperately prayed. “God, help me!" He raised his right hand in a desperate effort toward the shore and felt a strong hand grasp his. My friend (Daddy) was yanked up out of the water with his two daughters. They were taken up 10 feet to the flat land above the reservoir. They were all saved! My friend (Daddy) was laying there holding his daughters and quickly turned over to see who had miraculously saved him. No one was there. The shore was empty. They were the only people within miles. He knew then, that they had been saved by an Angel. God had heard his prayer!

The Accident That Never Was

A man was driving on a busy rain soaked street in Los Angeles when there was a sudden stop in traffic. He had no where physically to go but to be hit. He cried out to God for help. When he got out of his car to survey the damage, there was not one drop of damage to his car. It had been pushed somehow to the center medium, where it rested safely. Although he didn’t see or hear anything, he knew the gentle tap and lift that he felt had to have been from his Guardian Angel.

My Guardian Angel on Highway 75

Several years ago, I was driving to work in downtown Dallas . It was icy and cold. It hit an icy patch at an overpass and began to spin. There were cars all around me. Traffic was extremely heavy. My car spun around five times and stopped in the right lane facing north just as it should be. I kept going and pulled over at the next exit. It had shook me up. the move I thought about it, to miss all those cars took an angel, probably my guardian angel.

Angels sing to me

Once I had an incredible visitation of an angel sitting on the ledge of my fireplace singing to me. During this period of time, I made it a practice to pray for 6AM to 7 AM each morning. When I went to pray this time, I was seeking God about a great hurt that I had received from “church folks.” In response he sent an angel to sing to me, “there is power can conquer you, when God is one your side. Take him at his promise, don’t run away and hide.” Then he disappeared.

Vision about my life

Once I had a vision about my life. In this vision I say a being which was showing me my life and how to travel it. This must have been an angel or Jesus, I was never sure.

Two angels bring a message

Once when I was pastoring in Arkansas , two angels walked through my wall. They appeared like two very tall men. They were wearing dark suits like G-men. They had a message of correction for me for the church I was pastoring. They said to obey and give the warning quickly or the candlestick would be removed.

Two angels on my car

Once I was attending church and bible school as much as I possible could, much to the objection of my husband (now deceased). There was a great move of the Holy Spirit at this meeting. Everyone but 1 or 2 persons were slain in the Spirit. I don’t remember collecting my sons, getting into my car, or driving to Dallas that night to pick my husband up from work. The first thing I recalled was being almost to the intersection where he worked. I saw two angels sitting on the hood of my car. I was particularly struck by the fact that the two angels were sitting on my hood while I was driving 40 MPH without hanging on. They were sitting there just as easily as if it were sitting still. They wore long white robes and had long flowing hair which was blowing in the wind. Evidently they had delivered me safely to where I had to be.

Angels… This is a subject that we need to know more about. The Lord is dealing with me to share more about them because we are about to have some more encounters and need to know about what the Word has to say. Faith cometh by hearing and hearing by the Word of God. Romans 10:17

Angels are ministering Spirits which were sent to minister FOR us. As you read this scripture, notice it says they minister for us and not to us. (Hebrews 1:14) Are they not all ministering spirits, sent forth to minister for them who shall be heirs of salvation? Who are the heirs of salvation? Us, the saved ones, believers…

Definitions of Angel’s.

1. One sent to dispatch as a deputy; a messenger.( specifically of God) that is as an Angel ( also a prophet).

2. One sent as a watcher (a guardian).

3. One sent to bring tidings or an announcement.

4. The presence of angels are often mistakenly perceived as a current of air, that is breath, a divine spirit. God or the Holy Spirit.

The number one issue to remember about angels is that the Angels listen and act on the voice of the Lord… (definition of hearken—to listen attentively; to hear) (Psalms 103:20) Bless the LORD, ye his angels, that excel in strength, that do his commandments, hearkening unto the voice of His Word. Speaking His Word will activate His Angels. When we are looking at Angels, we can’t get away from right confessions. We read in (Matthew 16:19) And I will give unto thee the keys of the kingdom of heaven: and whatsoever thou shalt bind on earth shall be bound in heaven: and whatsoever thou shalt loose on earth shall be loosed in heaven. We have been given the authority to bind and loose. When we bind and loose according to His will, it is loosing angels to do His bidding.

This scripture is talking about His angels as ministers…in some verses his ministers are referred to as angels…In Revelation, they were called Angels of the Church of ……. (Psalms 103:21) Bless ye the LORD, all ye his hosts; ye ministers of his, that do his pleasure.

Another ministry of angels is to take care of us… (Psalms 91:11) For he shall give his angels charge over thee, to keep thee in all thy ways.

Angels bring us deliverance… (Psalms 34:7) The angel of the LORD encampeth round about them that fear him, and delivereth them. The Lord will deliver those that fear Him.

Angels are sent in answer to your intercession. The Church was busy interceding, when the angel opened the prison doors and set the prisons free… (Acts 5:19) But the angel of the Lord by night opened the prison doors, and brought them forth, and said…

Angels that bring us tidings or announcements… (Luk 1:19) And the angel answering said unto him, I am Gabriel, that stand in the presence of God; and am sent to speak unto thee, and to show thee these glad tidings. (Luk 2:10) And the angel said unto them, Fear not: for, behold, I bring you good tidings of great joy, which shall be to all people.

Angels can be special messengers from God. (2Ch 36:15) And the LORD God of their fathers sent to them by his messengers, rising up quickly, and sending; because he had compassion on his people, and on his dwelling place:

Be careful that you don’t mock the messenger of God. God is not a God to be mocked. (2Ch 36:16) But they mocked the messengers of God, and despised his words, and misused his prophets, until the wrath of the LORD arose against his people, till there was no remedy.

David’s wife was cursed with no children for her whole life because she mocked him for dancing before the Lord. Be careful what and who you mock. (2Sa 6:16) And as the ark of the LORD came into the city of David , Michal Saul's daughter looked through a window, and saw king David leaping and dancing before the LORD; and she despised him in her heart. (2Sa 6:20) Then David returned to bless his household. And Michal the daughter of Saul came out to meet David, and said, How glorious was the king of Israel today, who uncovered himself today in the eyes of the handmaids of his servants, as one of the vain fellows shamelessly uncovereth himself! (2Sa 6:21) And David said unto Michal, It was before the LORD, which chose me before thy father, and before all his house, to appoint me ruler over the people of the LORD, over Israel : therefore will I play before the LORD. (2Sa 6:23) Therefore Michal the daughter of Saul had no child unto the day of her death.

God is a jealous God... He won’t tolerate you looking to another... that is why he calls some lifestyles that are so blatantly against God an abomination... (Exo 34:14) For thou shalt worship no other god: for the LORD, whose name is Jealous, is a jealous God: (Deu 4:24) For the LORD thy God is a consuming fire, even a jealous God. (Deu 6:15) (For the LORD thy God is a jealous God among you) lest the anger of the LORD thy God be kindled against thee, and destroy thee from off the face of the earth.

Definitions from Strong’s: Messenger=To announce (glad news), preach ( bear, bring, carry, preach, good, tell good) tidings. Messenger= Especially an angel’’; by implication a pastor ; Note: in the original language there are two meanings for the word pastor, one a supernatural being sent from heaven, the other a pastor, here on earth Messenger= Officially a commissioner of Christ ( Apostle), ( with miraculous powers)

Messenger= One that is sent

Apostle-means one that is sent, just like the definition for angels or messenger

The name of an angel: Seraphim means living creature... Another name for the angels is a Seraphim, or living creatures. Isaiah describes this better in the sixth chapter. (Isa 6:1) In the year that king Uzziah died I saw also the Lord sitting upon a throne, high and lifted up, and his train filled the temple. (Isa 6:2) Above it stood the seraphims: each one had six wings with twain (two) he covered his face, and with twain (two) he covered his feet, and with twain (two) he did fly. (Isa 6:3) And one cried unto another, and said, Holy, holy, holy, is the LORD of hosts: the whole earth is full of his glory. (Isa 6:4) And the posts of the door moved at the voice of him that cried, and the house was filled with smoke. (Isa 6:5) Then said I, Woe is me! for I am undone; because I am a man of unclean lips, and I dwell in the midst of a people of unclean lips: for mine eyes have seen the King, the LORD of hosts. (Isa 6:6) Then flew one of the seraphims unto me, having a live coal in his hand, which he had taken with the tongs from off the altar: (Isa 6:7) And he laid it upon my mouth, and said, Lo, this hath touched thy lips; and thine iniquity is taken away, and thy sin purged. The seraphim covered himself with wings so first of all he brought; (therefore angels can bring to us) (1) protection, Next (2) he was able to fly, (3)He worshipped, (4) he proclaimed God’s glory, (5) he gave a manifestation of smoke (of the Holy Spirit), (5) he was used to reveal sins, (6) and used to bring forgiveness.

Another kind of angel is Cherubim.

(Eze 10:1) Then I looked, and, behold, in the firmament that was above the head of the cherubims there appeared over them as it were a sapphire stone, as the appearance of the likeness of a throne. (Eze 10:20) This is the living creature that I saw under the God of Israel by the river of Chebar ; and I knew that they were the cherubims. (Eze 10:21) Every one had four faces apiece, and every one four wings; and the likeness of the hands of a man was under their wings.

(Eze 1:14) And the living creatures ran and returned as the appearance of a flash of lightning. They moved quickly like a flash of lightening...

(Gen 3:24) So he drove out the man; and he placed at the east of the garden of Eden, Cherubims, and a flaming sword which turned every way, to keep the way of the tree of life. He did the direction he was told, and then he kept it... So we can command angels to accomplish His will and to keep it... When we speak His Word... Angels can and do come to us in our sleep. They can tell us things that only God himself knows. They can deliver to us Words of Knowledge and Wisdom.. Interpretation of dreams... (Dan 8:15) And it came to pass, when I, even I Daniel, had seen the vision, and sought for the meaning, then, behold, there stood before me as the appearance of a man. (Dan 8:16) And I heard a man's voice between the banks of Ulai, which called, and said, Gabriel, make this man to understand the vision.(the angel was told to make the man understand what God was telling him) (Dan 8:17) So he came near where I stood: and when he came, I was afraid, and fell upon my face: but he said unto me, Understand, O son of man: for at the time of the end shall be the vision. (he told him this vision was for end time and not right then) (Dan 8:18) Now as he was speaking with me, I was in a deep sleep on my face toward the ground: but he touched me, and set me upright.(the angel woke him up) (Dan 8:19) And he said, Behold, I will make thee know what shall be in the last end of the indignation: for at the time appointed the end shall be. (he is going to tell him about the last days)

(Dan 9:20) And while I was speaking, and praying, and confessing my sin and the sin of my people Israel, and presenting my supplication before the LORD my God for the holy mountain of my God; (Dan 9:21) Yea, while I was speaking in prayer, even the man Gabriel, whom I had seen in the vision at the beginning, being caused to fly swiftly, touched me about the time of the evening oblation. (Dan 9:22) And he informed me, and talked with me, and said, O Daniel, I am now come forth to give thee skill and understanding. (ability & knowledge) (Dan 9:23) At the beginning of thy supplications the commandment came forth, and I am come to show thee; for thou art greatly beloved: therefore understand the matter, and consider the vision. (think about the vision or ponder it)

( Col 1:12) Giving thanks unto the Father, which hath made us meet (eligible) to be partakers of the inheritance of the saints in light: (Col 1:13) Who hath delivered us from the power of darkness, and hath translated us into the kingdom of his dear Son: (brought salvation) (Col 1:14) In whom we have redemption through his blood, even the forgiveness of sins: (redeemed & forgiven through his blood) (Col 1:15) Who is the image of the invisible God, the firstborn of every

creature: (What God is all about) (Col 1:16) For by him were all things created, that are in heaven, and that are in earth, visible and invisible, whether they be thrones, or dominions, or principalities, or powers: all things were created by him, and for him: (Col 1:17) And he is before all things, and by him all things consist. ( Col 1:18) And he is the head of the body, the church: who is the beginning, the firstborn from the dead; that in all things he might have the preeminence.(superiority or highest rank) God also gives His angels charge over our lives or they are charged in helping or keeping us... bringing to us any and all things promised to us in the Word of God... (Psa 91:11) For he shall give his angels charge over thee, to keep thee in all thy ways. (Psa 91:12) They shall bear thee up in their hands, lest thou dash thy foot against a stone.

Angels are all around us. They are everywhere, helping us, ministering to and for us in different ways. We may not always see them but they are there. (Heb 13:2) Be not forgetful to entertain strangers: for thereby some have entertained angels unawares. We can also have dreams of angels. They can even bring you visions in the night. (old men dream dreams, young men see visions) (Mat 1:20) But while he thought on these things, behold, the angel of the Lord appeared unto him in a dream, saying, Joseph, thou son of David, fear not to take unto thee Mary thy wife; for that which is conceived in her is of the Holy Ghost. (Mat 1:21) And she shall bring forth a son, and thou shalt call his name JESUS: for he shall save his people from their sins.

I believe that the Lord wants us to renew our minds concerning Angels because He is about to move in a special way for us. There is so much about Angels I had to do this lesson.
